How do I become aware of my biases? How do I make my decision making objective and bias free? These are fundamental questions we need to explore and address, especially as managers of teams and leaders of organizations. Extensive documented research proves we are most often unaware of our biases. If unchecked, these biases could lead to groupism and favoritism, gut feel decision making, a non-inclusive and often toxic workplace. This program helps you explore why biases exist, what are the different kinds of biases and how they manifest at the work place, most importantly how to minimize and deal with unconscious biases.
Most of us believe our decisions are guided by our rational thinking. This program helps build awareness on the theme of unconscious biases and how they show up in different aspects of our personality and behavior. We focus on how to recognize signs of biases, within ourselves as around us. We demonstrate structured techniques, based on extensive psychological research, to address and manage unconscious biases. How to take concrete steps to counteract biases is discussed in details in the final section of the program.

Using a simple checklist to prepare for the conversation and a clear structure to follow during the conversation, you will practice giving and receiving feedback. Positive body language, using the correct choice of words and making feedback data driven and objective are key to making a feedback conversation achieve the desired objectives. We will illustrate how to incorporate these key elements into feedback conversations. Awareness of how the mind reacts to difficult feedback and how to handle such situations is addressed during the program through simulations.
